Health Sciences Education Building
Foster the Future of Nevada Medicine today!

The Health Sciences Building will transform the learning environment for the Orvis School of Nursing and the School of Medicine. The 59,000 square foot building, which will be, along with the Pennington Education Building, the educational hub for medical and nursing students on campus. The new Health Sciences Building represents, a quantum improvement in our environment for teaching and research and for collaborative service to the public.
The Health Sciences Building will employ state-of-the-art technology, and enable us to double the size of both our nursing and medical schools. The students, faculty and staff in medicine and nursing will work, study, and train together. The Health Sciences Building is the cornerstone of a new focus on comprehensive, interdisciplinary care provided by health care teams. Our students will enter their careers in health care with a sound foundation in working as part of a team to bring the very best care to patients.
In Spring 2009, legislative approval was granted for the capital expenditure, the only new construction authorized for the university in Nevada’s last session. In addition we have received a commitment for a naming level gift, so we are nearing completion of the fundraising needed. Architectural plans are complete and construction is scheduled to begin in January 2010 with occupancy slated for the fall 2011.
